"The saying goes that fishing without a net is merely bathing which seemed all wrong to me because bathing is great, there’s no merely about it. I thought that this saying was fitting for this track as it came from a day where I was trying for anything apart from piano house, which is something I disapprove of, and this appeared. I’ve said it before but I really believe that the government and public need to accept that we will never win the war on piano house."

Lecturing Birds

"This one was the luckiest of the bunch I think. The drums were all done in a day as a drum tool to play out and the swoopy synth was done imagining a tempo half or maybe a quarter of this, several weeks later. All I needed to do was throw one over the other and the synth went from relaxing to rushy and the drums went from a-bit-too-military to satisfyingly-urgent. It’s strange how that works.
I should probably add that this isn’t how it always works, for every day where the bits complement each other there’s plenty of days where I edit and squash two things together fruitlessly until I accept that it’s just not going to happen and bin the whole lot."
